I Ain't No Knight And Shining Armor By 050 Band

Girls are expected to be on the lookout for the knight that will sweep her off her fee, make her feel like a million dollar and keep her safe. You will win her over if she can do that. But rock music likes to pull a buzz kill often. Pop does this idealistic image, rock mocks that image and tells you life can still be worth it--even with some imperfection.

Guys tend to have different images and different expectations for them ladies, and that's why they took on rock and roll music to tell a different story--far from perfect one. Unlike pop and romance music, rock does not engage in false advertising, let's not waste time in talking and spring into action.

The boys of Black Theama is turning up the heat by joining forces with another delightful Egyptian voice Mohammed Mohie. Together they are celebrating the storyteller.

I did not see these two musical acts performing a duet like this, they did however appear together in a concert a while back. This is a dramatic song, which explains Mohamed Mohie's vocal credo. To lighten up the mood and enrich the music showcase, Black Theama is the guest.

Both stars are benefiting  Black Theama is tabbing in into the history and the name recognition of Mohie's, and he is reaching out to their young and energized  fan base that pack concert halls. The song is about the touch life some have where nothing seems to go right for certain segment of people.

I do feel the song is missing the fireworks elements, the song never peaks, and feels like a letdown, maybe that's because we expected a more colorful song from those musical acts.

The Lebanses Bombshell Nelly Makdessi

Nelly Mekdessi has always told us she knows she is hot. She has shown a lot of sex appeal throughout her 12 years career. Nelly is popular with the dudes, but if you do not appeal to the ladies too, things won't translate into commercial success.

This is a Lebanese pop star who has never looked less than stunning, she is the one bringing sexy back. She does not do many public concerts, even though she has so many singles and hits that many are familiar with. I do not know if she holds private parties too--but it's hard not to when one can make a lot of cash from such parties.

Nelly has done a lot of advertisements and commercial ventures, she seems like a fun person to talk to--she has no trouble getting interviews. As for her songs, she has stuck to pop ever since she emerged in the spotlight  most of her songs are in the old desert dialect. In face some of her music videos are about the desert,  horses, and Arabia knights and princess.

Sherine Channels Her Inner Najat Al Saghira شيرين عبدالوهاب - طول عمرى احبك - جديد 2013

Sherine is ready to be great on her own merit. But she also admires those who have come before us. Sherine knows how to stretch and extract her voice in any way she desires. She came from humble beginnings  and she did well for herself and her loved ones

The impressive part, her complete image change, she did pop songs at first, and she blazed the dance floor with her upbeat and perfect beat songs. Three albums later, and she has carved a place in history and claimed a spot in the biggest concerts around the Arab World. She has at least five album to her name, and each album has enough hits on it to blow a whale out of water.

Most recently she has given us romance gems that have a staying power, she still makes happy giddy dance songs and those live on as well. But every time she performs live, is like her giving the listener a piece of her soul. This time she chose to cover an acoustic version of Najat Al Saghira in a love confession song. This was recorded on a TV show, so it's not long enough, but at this time, it will do.

Also make sure to give thanks to Kamal Al Taweel, the legend who composed the music.

Ramy Gamal, The Education Of A Pop Star

Egyptian composer Ramy Gamal chose the worst time to launch his solo album, 2010, days before the Arab Spring gained momentum. Music did not die, it just had to take a break as new kind of music has emerged.  Ramy did not whine, he cut his losses and went on to make singles.

He kept his singing career going in a tough time, and he has manged not to do a real damage to his music composing business. I do happen to like the guy's work. He is a creative musician who listens to a lot of different styles. He plays few instruments himself.

It takes good looks to launch a pop career, Ramy is blessing in that department. and his on camera charisma connects with his fans. As for his debut music video he kept is catchy and told a love story where love triangle takes hold. In Ramy Gamal's world women do not seem to have a voice, they just smile to any guy who comes along.

Love is not cool rides and nice bikes, this is the kind of love you have in high school and in freshman years. As for his composing career, Ramy still works with the A list pop stars form both Lebanon and Egypt.

This song is for a Gulf-Khalij produced TV drama that has the title of "Girls Dormitory", or the dorms where only women live. The show will have plenty of drama about the things that bring young women together and pulls them apart. We do not get many songs about the ladies and the issues that cause rifts and fights, but at the end it's all fine and dandy.

They chose a Lebanese babe to do the promo song for the Drama, I hope the show gets the viewership it deserves if it was well-written. This is a dance song, I really like the beat, and most of all, yriam goes out of her way to make this song special.

I just did not fall in love with her other Khaliji songs, this is the first song she does and she made me feel like she wanted to make a hit out of this track. If she can make more of her songs like this, then she has my money. It's if she took all her strength points and put them to a good use here.

Divas Gotta Eat Angham New Single اغنية انغام - ياريت | تتر مسلسل فى غمضة عين

Egyptian all star Angham is one of the finest female voices in that country. She has been rocking it for about thirty years ever since she was a little girl with funny teeth that sang next to her father. Now that she has made it, and has a claimed a diva stature, she has to calculate every steps she makes. I like that she has been doing different songs, and she is now dabbling into acting with a TV drama.

She has also sang the soundtrack song, because what good being a diva is if you are not getting a check? The song is about things you want from life, less pain, more joy and off course easier life, and more love please. The drams which she co-starred in just begun to air. The other star is actress Dalia El Bihiri who has admitted that she has no chemistry with Angham, but nevertheless the had to work together despite their differences.

Somethings never change, among those things Angham's voice and delivery, she is always the same, for some this is a delight. I have enjoyed Angham's songs especially the bluesy ones. The new single style fits the style most want Angham to cover. Others have criticized her for doing pop computer affects songs. So, the melody for the title song is very Arabic and very fitting.

There's yet another new Turkish Soap Opera that has been dubbed in Arabic to appeal to the droves of Arabs glued to their TVs. The show's name is "Lara's Choice" or "Lara" and surprise, it;s a love story. But the good news, they have tabbed Lebanese songstress Yara to do the theme song.

Yara, sounds like she is a younger version of Fayrouz, I am sure she would be happy to know that. There's only one Fayrouz, but I am feeling like Yara is following in her steps, this song is another testament to that conclusion.

The song has a good melody, and it tells the beginning of a story....and coping with sadness as we march in life. Yara can always have our love if she does those songs, we lived her for them when she begun her career in 2005. She has lost some when she changed her dialect for pay.

A Touching Song In The Syriac Tradition ترتيلة سريانية - فرقة جسور &إيناس لطوف

Joussour is not your typical band, it's a throwback band to the ancient history of the Middle East region. The band is made-up of musicians from different cultural background. Which makes it a lot easier for them to turn out a diverse mix of music from Mesopotamia and the Levant including folkloric, contemporary, instrumental and vocal pieces, and the various types and stages of oriental songs in general.

The Band employs a style reflects the rich cultural tapestry of the region's varying cultures and traditions. This is done using a new creative musical language which reflects their capabilities as musicians to perform various types and styles of music, and expresses at the same time their renewed faith in their heritage and the importance of its interaction with contemporary musical genres.

The Band's namesake 'joussour' illustrates that, the word itself means 'bridges' in Arabic, more like a time-machine I would call them. The band weave together different cultural background, which comes with a unique musical style deeply rooted in history. The band started in 2007, and is led by Syrian musician Salah Ammo. Since its establishment, the group has performed several concerts, inside and outside of Syria, and is today considered one of the most important groups in Syria, due to its representation of the songs and cultures of the region. The band has yet to reach out to Europe, even though their music is the exact kind that has the across culture appeal.

So, if you think Arabic or Islamic music is too modern for you, you can go back in history and enjoy this the Orthodox Syriac tradition, a song about the divinity of God. This song is about breaking bread together.

Sabah of Lebanon or Sabah Al Shahroura is that lady who was among the few Arab entertainers to marry many times--eight to be exact. Do not tell me about your traditional marriage and values  there are people like that who mock it with the way they lead their lives.

While many young people out there are unable to get married, there's one celebrity who has at least gotten married seven times. At her prime she was the it girl and she ruled the 60s and part of the 70s too.

  1. Najib Al Shmmas, her first hubby and she was 18 at the time, he was the age of her father and it ended in an ugly divorce.
  2. Abdallah Al Mubarak was an Arab business man who married Sabah next. They met in a casino where she was performing. Needless to say the marriage lasted just for one month. Al Mubarak asked Sabah to quit the show business, but instead she quit him.
  3. Anwar Mansy, the violinist in he band, he loved her and confessed her love to her, only to find out that Sabah feels the same way. He fathered her girl Hoida, but his addiction to gambling and he was prone to violence. Divorce was sought.
  4. Ahmed Farraj, a low level radio personality that appeared on a show that Sabah starred. They married, and denied it for a while, then they started to bicker over modest clothes and song selections. The jealous husband would question the Sabah and even wiretap her phone as well, they divorced three years later in 1963.
  5. Rushdie Abaza, the prince of the silver screen, the manliest man who all of a sudden announced her married to Sabah. They have worked only on one movies, and the wedding was officiated in a Beirut court. The wedding only lasted for 48 hours, the wedding and the divorce were both surprises.
  6. Joe Hammoud, summer of 1970 was a very special time for Sabah and this politician. Joe was the loving kind, he understood the demand of her career, and was supportive, but two years later he was running for office and they divorced.
  7. Wassim Tabarra, a Lebanese comedian, actor  and director who kept his marriage to Sabah for five years. He approached her about his love and they get married in 1973. Sabah cited that the move loves himself more than he loved her and he had a lot of business and artistic ambitions. They had a disagreement while in Canada, so she walked out on him.
  8. Fadi Kuntar of Fadi of Lebanon, they married in 1987. He was a b list singer and almost half her age at that point. They were together for 15 years. According to Sabah he was too busy with his friends and his future. She left him after thinking about it for at least two years. He did get to document her life on film.
Other reported marriages:

  1. Actor Youssef Shaaban - another marriage of creative differences, lasting just a month. Another man who strayed to the stage and briefly into the Lebanese temptress's web.
  2. Joseph Gharib The initial marriage report was an April Fools prank, later turned bon fide wedlock, as reported this month. Her former hair-dresser of 17 years became her husband. At the time she was 85 years old.

Tony Qattan Blames The Father Of The Girlfriend

Jordanian pop star Tony Qattan should have gotten an ward at home when they handed them to dozens of Arab pop stars. Frankly, the guy had more sold out concerts than most Arab stars. He had few singles that were amazing and he keeps the pop dream alive  For a guy who is neither Egyptian, nor Lebanese he has taken Jordan to new pop territories.

Who helps the young star? Not a government entity. But the love of his fans in both Palestine and Jordan. The kid knows how to party, this is why his festival book is getting full each day. And when he speaks he is not selling bullshit, he means business and always thanks his fans.

Tony's style evolves, but always blends what's known to Jordanian and Palestinian music scene, very similar to the Lebanese one, but distinct. His ability to play both the guitar and the piano has impressed his family at a young age. He is one rare bread of singers, he has made it into the major league without taking part of a singing competitions. He has taken singing professionally since 2005 and has been a role model for many young singers in both Palestine and Jordan

Lebanon's well known sentimental songs composer and lyricist Salim Assaf is already making 2013 a busy time for his fans. His latest collaboration is a song for Ramy Ayach, which Dany Helou produced the music for. A romantic song made for the ages.

The song starts like the very end of an opera song, then comes the poetry with the smooth R&B voice of Ramy Ayach. Yes, this team have just cranked up the volume on what might be this years's best Valentine Day single. I like the way the song is divided and arranged.

Ramy shines with this soulful song, about the amount of pain one is welling to take in for the loved ones. I know women will weep upon hearing this song, it makes you believe that Ramy is really hurting. Then the artists asks God for help, your love is bigger than me. The end has a sudden end which indeed leaves wondering if there is more from where this comes.

Nicola El Osta never went anywhere, he is among the most known non stars singers at his home Lebanon. He is good for romance pop the kind that appeals to people who have actually fell in love before. He does not get a lot of media coverage  but he changes that last year when he did a song asking men to unit and star asking for their rights.

He has concerts in Canada often and countries where the Lebanese folks dwell and work. They tend to love his smile, and his songs. He is a good pop star who does songs like a believer when its' hard to believe in love and those we often chose to love.

Nicolas is out with a new single that talks about not changing after a breakup, it's not easy not to hate or become jaded after a breakup.

Diana Karazon has always had a million dollar voice, she got the skills, the warm voice, the happy one too, and the emotional complexity to make her a wholesome songstress. She shot to fame 10 years ago when she won the title for the then popular show Super Star, she won the title and Arabia seen the first star born in front of our eyes.

One thing, this is an image obsessed industry and she did not seem to mine her bulky weight, her early music videos focused on her face and cute look. But then the press started to talk about her look and worse, her female counterparts started whispering mean things about her.

She tires to keep cool, but she had  breaking point and all of sudden a new Diana Karazon walks into the pop scene, she looked a lot leaner, and had more energy. This was a radical change, as the songstress has lost more than half of her weight and all of sudden she seemed also taller. I believe it was in 2007 when the surgery was done.

I have always said, good for her, she wanted to feel good and feel second to none, she went for it. She is the same awesome voice as she has been.

The Arab world might think of Ahlam is a loon (majnoona) and I would not care, because I know deep down she is a very proud entertainer who hates to be fake around all those fake people who talk shit on her back. She is a well off lady who has been in the business for two decades or even more, so she is working for fun not the cash.

Even Rotana caved in to her demands when they wanted to go cheap, they called them out on it in public and then when the top boss was unkind to her back, she called on the owner's wife who stood on her side and told the company to do whatever Ahlam want.

And now, we are staring her album in the eye, and know that this lady still has the energy for the music business. While, no doubt she is a colorful soul, and she has no problem telling people how she feels as we saw she does on Arab Idol panel. I am really fed up with non Khaliji singers doing Khaliji songs--it's hard to fake it. Ahlam is a native to that region and some credit her with making such songs popular throughout Arabia. It's about time she releases something fresh and real.

The little I have seen of the album tells me a great deal about the voice quality of Ahlam, she is a rock star and she has a flexible and smooth voice. Think of is the Asalah of her region. There's a lot more dance and romance from the women vantage of point delivered to perfection by Ahlam and her team

2005 is the year we all have realized that Myriam Fares can dance, sing and bring some joy into the life of those who watch her move on camera. Ever since she made the music video for Nadini, and she has been under the media spotlight who has found a new darling that knows how to copy and improve on world pop stars.

Myriam Fares is the name that swept through the Arab world and made an impact on pop music. She has made dancing interesting again, and challenged other pop stars to keep up with her  She danced, not just moved. Yes, that athletic body of hers can bend. Her brand of stunning dance moves were all of sudden all over the airwaves, and that made her happier and richer.

That year older pop stars in Lebanon felt threatened, they could no longer compete in the pop game, Myraim was on steroid, their dance moves made people want to take a nap. That t-shirt she wore made many Arabs happy to see their flags featured on prime real estate.

Here's a heart breaking song from the youngest gun in Egyptian pop, singer Mohamed Hassan, he is back with a lot of tears, and he sounds to have no dry eye, shedding tear on the Egyptians who are killed every day. And the ones who walk in a funeral only to go home dead.

Speaking of somber songs, Hassan nailed this one on the head, the music and the melody almost make you cry even before you hear those tear soaked song of this Egyptian artist. This song is not about rage, and revenge, but rather about the rights of people and the obligations of the government.

Stop with the blame game and mourn the dead, do not go and be dead yourself--for once it's unclear who is killing whom.

In 2007, Hamas took over Gaza. But before they could pulled it off, they had to eliminate some people to free their hand. Tens of Fateh leaders have been murdered  Among the biggest local leaders to be assassinated by Hamas is Samih Almadhoun--they guy who was executed on camera and his boy was mutilated. Samih was a local leader for Fateh and as he was being murdered by some Hamas operatives--he chanted long lives Fateh.

The death of Samih and his friends like Rami Serour, Nabil Jarjeer are all commemorated with this song that glorifies their memories and links them to to legendary Palestinians leader Yasser Arafat. This song is banned in Gaza and if it plays in public Hamas will send a police unit and detain people.

Those were tough times for Palestine and most people are ashamed of them. I pray such days won't see a return.

Couples fight, but those fights do not have to be violent, at that point, the relationship is better off over it. Just take your cute from Dalida whose crisis are allowing her to sing a poem to the man who is troubling her and breaking her heart. He is a good looking jerk though and this is the killer combination

Dalida is one of the latest Lebanese bombshells to break into the poetic song in the Khaliji dialect. This is not her first rodeo, she is working on a third album--which she also produced. She has admitted having gone under the knife for once, she is not using sex to sell...I am being me she maintains. And it seems she hates to be owned be a music production company.

She has a strong voice, making her perfect to do loud songs, Khaliji and Lebanese are a good starting point. she can also do the Bedouin style songs as well. It seems that the Khalij-Gulf media adores this young women. This song is part of her upcoming album to be released through the Melody Network. We are anticipating songs in varying styles and dialects.

The Iraqi Music Riot Known As Waleed El Shamy

Iraq's most prolific composer singer Waleed El Shamy is reaping the success of his music career from his home base Dubai. I did not think he is the guy to do romance songs, as most of his better known songs are dance hits with that unmistakable Iraqi beat. He has made a lot of beats to Arabs stars who like to shop around from his flavor filled melodies.

But now Waleed El Shamy is dipping his toes in the romantic song, with the release of his "Magnouny" track. It's like he searched within his soul for a romantic version of himself and then placed it in the center stage. He has always been the party guy from Iraq with the upbeat tunes, now he is moving into the territory of the likes of Majid Al Monhadis, a fellow Iraqi singer.

I love the back story the music video features. Also the slow melody fits the lyrics just right.
