How Nancy Ajram Is Becoming Increasingly Fake

If you ask most Arabs, they will agree Nancy Ajram is a huge star. Why? I would say she has manged to sell cute, by posing as the girl next door. The spunky girl that looks exotic and has and exotic name yet still act as if she is some some small village in Lebanon or Egypt. For her music video from (2003-to 2007). We all remember that poor girl's dress she wore while she was doing laundry as her boy tries to win her affection.

But then she changed her image from that to the girl that wears tons of jewelry, promotes fancy and glamorous life. Nothing wrong with that, no one says anything wrong with making lots of easy money. But that's not we have all come Nancy Ajram. We loved her on camera antics and who she is, not the girl that is a walking billboard.

Just look no further than her latest music video...it's full of glamour and gold. Her millions of fan base around the Arab World won't connect with that. Those kind of music video has gotten really old now. She is now joining those reality TVs as a judge, so once again she is further turning people's love into her personal ATM machine.

Nancy Ajram has always been a trend sitter since 2009, I think she is no longer doing that. Would that mean much? I do not know, but Nancy could be looking at a bigger house and more vacations.

Zayne is a guy who has some dance moves, his moves are even pretty amazing outside of his cosmos of fans. He is so smooth and has a nice movement and flow. He seems very slick and quick, so he has won that recognition. His style is vibrant, unique sound and represents one of a kind dancing style. It's his singing or choice of songs that I do not connect to.

Now, his dance moves are worthy of the likes of Justin Temberlake. It's his singing skills that has a room for growth. I am not taking issue with the music video--even though it feels inaccessible to me, but those are strange times and one gets older not younger. Weird sells and young people like weird--no no further than Lady Gaga.

The message of his songs may apply to troubled places all across the Arab world--Syria could use his message of "be strong" and so can Egypt--where Zayne is deeply connected. It's a great credit for him to have written the song. It makes him the first British singer with an Egyptian background to release an English song in the Middle East.

I think it's hard to market talents like the artists here, the Arab world is just trying to figure it out thanks to many TV shows where similar talents have met the mainstream. Zayne, you are a cool catch, now is the time to do something that will set you apart. There's an amazing way to incorporate Arabic beats into Western ones, you have gone to great length to do that....now comes the need to figure how to sell it.

The original party guy from Lebanon is releasing yet another album, an album for parties and those who like them. Fares has aged in front of our eyes but his music and style never seem to age. I think the cover art for the album is pretty cool. He is doing the old/beat up man look with an old vintage car. Exactly, somethings never go out of style.

Your heart is my capital is the title song and it has hit the airwaves as the buzz is building up about this new release. To be fair, Fares is the Cadillac of Lebanese party artist, his songs are a must play at whatever wedding or happy occasion one has. He knows the crowds and he knows what gets their party juices flowing.

Those will be 12 tracks of amazing dance beats with some heartfelt lyrics, but in the tradition of Fares Karam, what he says is not that important how he does it is. He is never out of breath and he is not the guy to be short on passionate lyrics

They have nailed the song on its head, and the music is so close to the real thing. I have never thought Egyptian music would be something that the people of japan care for, but things you learn. This is an ensemble of four ladies including the vocalist.

The Arabs is pretty decent. I think so far the have performed Oum Kalthoum songs. For a long time, bands and artists have performed songs in languages they do not speak as natives. The band behind the songs take the name "Le Club Bachraf" playing oud, nay and darboukka. Japanese singer Nao Koyasu sings Arabic songs "Inta Omri" and "Lissa fakir" of great Oum Kalsoum. These videos are from their concert in Cairo, Egypt, country of origin.

The Hypocritical People Khalij نفاق أهل الخليج

The Khalij or the Gulf is where millions of Arabs live, and those people happen to be the most affluent Arabs around the world. They tend to be generous people, hospitable and loving people. No one will ever take that away form them. But today I want to talk about something different. The perceptions of Khalij men and women of local female entertainers.

But first few observations--and please correct me if I am wrong.

  1. Khaliji men would pay top dollars to see an Arab star sing a song of their writing and of their music.
  2. Khaliji men entertainers can pretty much do whatever they want, they travel the world, they perform locally and abroad, no one puts restrictions on them.
  3. When Khaliji women sing, a number of things will happen:
    1. Critics will say she is not really local--she came from some other country.
    2. Haters will attack her family and cal them names.
    3. Pigs will insult the female entertainer by calling her things like "ugly", "Tomboy", and such.
  4. The people who usually wage those attacks are the same people who take vacation trips in pursuit of bodily pleasures to Thailand and other fun tourism
So it's OK for the Lebanese/Moroccan/Iraqi to sing a song for those men, but when a home girl does it, it's the end of their world as we know it. What does this say about the Lebanese songstress? While most of the hate comes form men, some women also jump on the wagon and speak ill of female performers.

It's like being a singer has become another name for being a prostitute. When in reality most of those performers take their music seriously. Women can be trusted to make the right call in life, they have been raised well and for starter, God gave them the free will.
But despite all that hate and attacks, some female voices mange to survive and make a career. There are many very gifted home grown singers who do wonders for the Gulf music scene  I shall name few from the new generation,
  1. Aseel Omran (Saudi Arabia), she acts and sings pop songs. Her voice offers planet of warmth.
  2. Shams (Kuwait), makes fresh music videos, and tells people I am form Mars--leave me alone.
  3. Hala Al Turk, (Bahrain), a little girl that has sold millions of records doing kid songs.
  4. Shamma Hamdan (UAE) surfed the most attacks when she appeared on Arabs Got Talent, for change a real musician.
  5. There are always Ahlam (UAE), Hind (Bahrain), Nawal (Kuwait) Rowaida Mahrouqi (UAE) and Waad (Saudi Arabia)
I do realize that there are enlighten people everywhere, but this should not be an issue, here's another fact for you. When you allow the fans to listen to music made by the ladies of the Gulf, they have loved them every time--just see the video below. So that might scare off some dudes.

Listen: Amal Hijazi Super Sweet Romantic Love Song

Amal Hijazi has survived those who have waged a war against her. Early this year, some made a big deal of hr filming a music video in Morocco near a mosque. She was never inside the mosque, the area was a tourist area and lots of tourists go and visit. Anyhow months later, there was a modeling show near that site, and no one has made a big deal....so Amal Hijazi felt vindicated.

Her 2010 song might be her most romantic song to date, and the lyrics music have been crafted by Salim Essaf, the hit-maker of Lebanese pop. He actually has brought the best in Amal, he wrote a song that only works for her and for her talent.

This is a super dreamy song, the song that can only come from the girl version every man wishes to get to meet. Amal has outdone herself in this track, she gave us the best version of herself and if you are a fan, you will cheer. None fans will appreciate this solid convincing performance.

The Now Offensive Bassem Yousef With Sex Jokes

There was a time when Bassem Yousef used to be a folk hero and a guy who told jokes by grilling the lame media. He had a good run, and we loved him for it. When he started worrying about the money, he had to watch the rating of his program. There are very few things one can grill in public, but now he has gone to great length to insult the collective IQ of his followers.

I for once, do not watch the show and can no longer stomach the guy--I like to point out that we are the first blog to write about him. But now he is in trouble with his fans. This time, Bassem joked about sex, sexual harassment and failed to make a point. I do not watch his show, but I read about it when it makes the news. There's nothing with using sex to tell jokes, but this is something often reserved for adult audience in a private club late at night.

I present some of the comment via his programs official Facebook page. The comments take issue with his language and crass humor. Some have accused his critics of being members of political groups that he often ridicules

--Disrespectful
--May God Take Revenge On Him
--Low life and crude.

Saudi Singer Abdel Majeed Abdallah is not the one to talk about himself to the masses. He is a shy artist and a Saudi which makes him bad at talking about himself. But the man makes good music and his fans and the industry knows this.

I wish he was a bit more engaged by releasing more songs, but it seems singles from him come once a year and land as a surprise. He has a fresh songs out there and the music is so beautiful as it is authentic. Enjoy this single and its distinctly classical Arabic with poetic justice.

Dear Suckers Of Israel, Please Watch This Song

Do not worry, the lyrics for this song are in English subtitle, so you won't miss any of the passionate lines Hamza Namira has for you. This is a song that came last year, and Hamza is a clam guy, he is one of those sober voices in Egypt. The world is not picking on Israel, they may not like their actions but none of them can do anything about it. Israel likes to believe it has superior ethics, but when it comes to their own interest-they would kill, imprison, abuse and discriminate. Yes, they are not all the same, sometimes people have legitimate concerns.

I have no issues with Israelis, I do take issues with violent Israelis, the ones who incite violence, steal land, and murder people. And my most hates one are the racist ones who discriminate against us in places like Jerusalem. Jews have always been welcome in the holy land, but what is happening right now, is that they want to kick everyone out.

This song is about justice and about history. Hamza's guitar is more of a threat to the Israeli right wing, that the most lethal weapon. This is a war of ideas, and the right win in Israel have just lost it and the United Nation has just handed them another defeat.

3 Minutes With Bahaa Sultan

As all the young men of a certain age will tell you, Bahaa is a professor of love. He is the dude we all sat around him listening to him sharing his wisdom on relationships. Unlike many of her peers in the pop music scene Bahaa does not dumb down the complexity of love.

He makes bitter songs and sweet ones but they are all wise tracks. You need that kind of life lesson. Life is not always happy, it's not always tragedy. It's a mix of both. Bahaa and his brain--Nasr Mahrous always make sure to put everything together by understanding the different components of a song and how they are arranged.

Once one is able to do this, you can combine everything musical into a complete song. The result is creating something catching and that everyone wants to remember. Knowing what it takes to make a good song is the first theory towards success as a songwriter.

Once you have the lyrics in place, you need to arrange the rest of the piece so that it fits together correctly. If you move through other pieces of music, notice that it is not just the lyrics that keep everything moving. There is also an identification of other types of instruments that work to support the song. Nasr knows how to custom design all those affects to make them fit the artist he works with.

You do not make a song for over 20 minutes, if you know you have something incredible to show for it. You need the classical music parade, and the warm voice that will perform the best poetic lyrics money can buy. Whatever the occasion, Najat doesn't care, there are plenty of good excuses to sit down and perform a sappy—er, heartfelt—love song to her special man.

But if you don't know the first thing about how to begin expressing those "emotions" you seem to keep feeling, fear not—you've come to the right place. She always got the lowdown on how to spill her guts into a melody and make you swoon. Or at least laugh out loud. Najat's songs tend to excel in telling details which she captured with her very own style.

Najat Al Saghira may have the Junior as her last name, she is second to none in the type of songs she chooses to perform. She is about romantic song, her personal warmth, dreamy eyes and soulful honey dripping lyrics have stood the test of time

Some Tunisian who sang against the police rests in jail right now. His song was titled "The Police Are Dogs"--think Pigs in America. His song takes a creative approach at insulting the police and he was nothing but harsh words for the police force in Tunis,

Many young people in Tunis are pissed of at their government and from the comments they post, they seem to want to break free. Weld El 15 is the artists behind this song. The Tunisian Ministery of Interior has arrested a young man and unidentified woman, they await to see a judge. This has taken place south of the capital and they are investigation the incitement and defamation the song calls for against the government and the police.

I think, people should be free to speak their minds, but even in free societies there are limits...try to mock a police officer, call him a name of give him the middle finger here. You will not be happy. I wish the artist well, and I want him to be free.

A business man with the name Youssef Jaroudi wanted to produce Lebanese entertainment so, he started a production company and went on to sing few names from home. Voices that can add to the Lebanese music scene.

Jaroudi Media will be working and investing in music, music videos, lyrics composing, and music arrangements. So, a number of B list and otherwise talented singers have singed up with Jaroudi. While mos production companies have shut down for the moment, Jaroudi is hoping to make a profit where others have failed.

The founder seems fond of orchestra music and good times songs from Lebanon, among their biggest finds is collaborating with the iconic composer/singer Samir Sfier on two songs that will be releasing soon. Jaroudi's mantra is quality over quantity, music that promotes peace and harmony.

I am uncertain how profitable/how busy the company will be, but I like what they are trying to accomplish. They have already made two amazing music videos....

Egypt's hottest and biggest rock band started as an indie band till they all of a sudden got big. Commercial money started flowing, promoting soft drinks, energy drinks and just about anything. They are covted on TV shows and asked to comment on all things Egypt. They have toured the world and back, and still they are still the most popular band in Egypt.

Their fan base keeps on growing, and they sort of reach out for the cool aisle. More and more they are focused on their look, and outfits. New haircuts and grooming are in order, they now look like every other mainstream American band. What still sets them apart is their lyrics, passion and messages about changes in Egypt.

They are back with a new song that serves as the soundtrack for an upcoming indie film about the Revolution in Egypt. This is an A list film with top talents, the song is way out there, about the meaning of change and to quote, the nightmare in your dreams.

They pick on the security officers in Egypt, their torture and abuse methods. And doing all that in an abandoned building. But do not worry their guitar and vocals are still on the money. This is the anti-establishment, it sets Egypt as the people vs. everyone else including the politicians and people with authority. Amir Eid wrote the dazzling lyrics and I tell you they sound as a shot in the ear. Their fire in the belly is still on.

Reviewing The Greatest Arabic Pop Album In البوم كارول سماحة - احساس 2013

$

01 - Ehssas, the most sophisticated and grown up track on the entire album. A bittersweet song from Carole who knows how to make those song best. I love the low key energy and the music takes you up and down in a beautiful race.

02 - El Afrah, one of the happier songs and naturally you go to the Egyptian dialect for those. This song has legs, it will stick around and be played at each of our parties and happy occasions. This is new territory for Carole, she will be happy she chose this song and added it to her album--such songs have a longer shelf life.

03 - Hakhounak, the most jaded song one person can hear. Carole actually wrote the lyrics. Smart and strong women do not like to be cheated or wronged. She is avenging that with this song, I will betray you.  They very words that can kill a man and send him to his destruction. A hurricane of emotions where Carole is very comfortable at being conflicted

04 - Inta Tofl Kbir, written and composed by Marwan Khoury, I do not think this is his best work. But the song itself is refreshing. Too man men out there, live life as if they are big boys. It's time for Carole to expose them and take them to task. It's slow dance song that changes pace and has a Spanish influence.

05 - Ohdonni, The very sweet song performed like a girl in love for the first time would have written it. A dreamy song that guys like to imagine their epic love to be like. I love this side of Carole, the dreamy side of her sounds very original  the lyrics are a delight. A nice break from the darker songs. Huge me or embrace me is the tittle her, and this alone tells me, the song is about someone's need to feel warm.

06 - Ana Geet, pop is not dead as long Carole gives it her time. This is a cute song with a catchy beat meant for the younger fans who like clubbing. Love means to compromise just to be close to the one you love. Looking forward helps, and the song calls for just that. This is a winner track.

07 - Wahshani Belady, the Arab Spring broke far too many homes, and drove so many away from the motherland. And those who have been away are thinking now to come back home. Coming home songs are a dime a dozen, but good ones with a sweet dance beat are hard to come by. Carole has the right song and I am in love, about loving the homeland, the people form there and wanting to take a walk down memory lane. The music fusion is exicting and is done right,One of the top songs on this album and an instant classic.

08 - Yaoumayn Shahrayn, the sweet dose has another offering, Carole channels her most delicate soul and dives deep down to bring the most sincere love potion out of her lyrics. A Lebanese style all the way, the sweet, unconditionally loving despite the distance. I love how the music flows and allows listener to close his/her eyes and think of whatever brings such memories to life.

09 - Mosh Maakoul, Dick Dale would be very happy to see someone from Lebanon is this sophisticated to incorporated his own surge guitar music. By the way Dick is Lebanese. The song also takes the Spanish flamenco flavor with lyrics about life and living life to the fullest. This might be a call for women to do more with their lives as life can be a very sweet thing as we travel through it.

10 - Mosh Tayaak, The spunky song has arrived and it is the perfect tongue in cheek moment. I love this song, about how crazy and stupid can love make us. I love this song and I would ask fore more please  the lyrics are accessibly, fun and will make all girls happy to be ones. I like the positive humor and crazy feel Carole brings in this song. The song goes, I cannot stand you, I do not love you, because I am crazy about you...preach one!

11 - Khedni Maak, a cover of one of the most celebrated Lebanese diva, the late Salwa Qattrib. It's hard to live in the shadows of such legends, I feel the song could have been done better. But the song introduced a whole new generation  to an older yet better songs. The cover game is tricky, and I feel Carole has a lot more to offer that what I am hearing in this cover. Carole did not get through to me here.

12 - Wou Taawadet, this song came out last year and made waves by rocking the slow music scene  I like this complexity of love--love can be a very dark and risky thing. This is a breakup song form the first rate. This track offers peace to those living with a broken heart. Pick yourself up, and march on. Carole ruled out in this song not to mentioned the amazing music that accompanies such mighty lyrics.

13 - Ma Bnethammelsh Baad, A song that plays like a conversation between two people who loved one another, but cannot stand the differences. Breaking up is possible, but the song gives a glimpse of hope. It ain't over yet. A mellow song going for sad. A sobering track that brings a balance, love is not all parties it's fare more complex and the naive should keep away.

Activist in Palestine are poking fun of president Obama's visit to the West Bank, they are not mean or anything  just sarcastic at the man who comes offering nothing and changing little. They are bored and it's all a fair game to recount some of the pains people of Palestine live through daily.

This is a humorous song with, welcome Obama! The Ramallah activists are smart too, you can hear a voice in English saying, "I have seen enough, I must go, wait for peace" The biggest expense for the music video was the car rental where the actor playing president Obama rides.

The song talks about the crossing or military checkpoint separating Jerusalem from Ramallah or the west Bank. I like the geek guy with glasses, he might have his fans around the world as those geeks have a league of their own. It's sad, but true, this trip came form nowhere in a time where the peace process has not gone anywhere in five years.

This is a largely forgettable song from a pop star who continues to fail in defining herself musically. Diana Karazon is one talented songstress  but tell me what has she done lately? When she started she had her songs that we loved. But then she now obsess over her image and disappoints in reminding us why we should listen to her.

She has even went to great length to make the news, not by making better songs--those are not easy to make, but by wearing outlandish outfits. This is the lazy trick, her new single has been tattled "Two Months" About the failed romantic relationship and jumping ship. I am not blown away,  she does not sounds like Diana Karazon no more  She is copying someone else's style. Still she sounds good and she offers an emotional weepy song.

The most surprising mother song of the year has to be the one with Vivian Mrad playing a Marcel Khalife song. You cannot relive the oldies, but you can breath a new air into them and bring in new fans to enjoy the classics.

Marcel's original song is timeless, I miss my mother's bread and her coffee. Most Arabs memorize this song from the activist singer and gifted musician who has traveled the world and performed at the most prestigious music venues.

Vivian Mrad is a pop diva with a warm voice, and this song shows she has some real talent. Aside form her dance songs, and gorgeous Photo-shoots, she can rock. I love the lute bit in both versions. Vivan's lasts for under three minutes, the original goes for more than nine.

Vivian really outdoes herself her and goes the length to show how much she loves two things, the first is her mother and the second this song which is for mothers.
