Ramy Ayach Revisits The Romantic Past رامي عياش - يا ريت بترضي ياريت

Rabee' Alkoholi quit the show business, but he has never stopped singing, now he sings at his church where he is a priest. Rabee was the golden boy of pop romance in the 1980s and he was wroth his weight gold. Then all of a sudden he wanted to do something more. He cold the music business cold and joined a perish.

Many of Rabee's friends continue to visit with him at the church where he serves. Among them pop star Ramy Ayach who credits Rabee for helping him through some personal struggle. But now during his new year concert on LBC1 Ramy Ayach performed one of the most beloved classics by Rabee.

Ramy dedicated the song to his new fiance and the net took the song and ran with it. It's hard to come close to the original song, but Ramy has given it his best shot. Yarait Ebterdhi Yarait, I hope she would say yes! is how the song would be titled in English. a romantic song with a dreamy melody, I grew up listening to it. I think one of the reasons Ramy Ayach started his career because he had that shade of romance, very similar to those songs by Rabee.

This is a throwback to one of the most beloved love songs, a guy can perfrom.

The cooler that ice romance hit-maker, the man of the blues Wael Jassar has a new album out, and it has nine tracks. This is the album from this gifted Lebanese hit-maker whose fan base are far reaching. He is not the me, me star, but rather the kind that makes good music and come across as a down to earth guy.

He is also a coveted guest for TV shows and concerts, he is a big name that comes with little dram, virtually no gossips and no haters either. His formula is truly impressive, not too many entertainers can do it, but Wael has manged to capture the spotlight without trying too hard, and without stepping on his family.

While his songs tend to be sad and riven from the heart, some of his songs are about more about life and people. romance can be painful sometimes. He does have a song that orders the listener to be happy, so that's a start. He chose the Egyptian song for that track, and it's unlike something he made in the past. el, ths might be the first dance song from the man of blues himself.

He switches from Lebanese to Egyptian dialects and styles and no one notices the difference. Another great thing about him, the people who record music with him, seem to give him something interesting as you are never bored with any of the songs.

Non-Existing Saudi Princess Gives Pop Star Wissam Hilal A Fancy Ride!

Some Arab pop star who sings in English and likes cars, takes pictures inside some nice car. Next he knows at least two news stories about him, "Wissam Hilal Received A Car As A Gift From Saudi Princess" No, this is not a joke. But no, really he did not get a free car.

Wissam has posed those stories on his Facebook and it seems he is surprised by those fabricated and  Stupid and baseless non-news stories. I can understand that, it's a slow news day, and such websites make shit up. (Read here and here) The car you see in the picture is one of those car shows items. It's Nissan GTR 2013 .. It's does not belong to the artist and frankly he has yet to get his driving license in the United Arab Emirates where he is currently based.

Per his Facebook page

Seriously? It seems I was right when I kept my private stuff away from everyone because I kind of knew previously how people in this part of the world would think. This is a desperate attempt to ruin someone like me's image!
PS: I never met Marwa!!

The Syria native singer known for such funky and dancy hits "Single" is also celebrating a new MTV-nominated music video "Last Goodbye" I liken Wissam's style and choices to those of American music star Justin Timberlake. God knows they are both good looking, both sharply dressed and both make dazzling music.

Wissam Hilal - The Last Goodbye (Official Music Video)

P.S. This story follows another story where a handsome man from the UAE was expelled from the Saudi Kingdom (for being gorgeous) received a car as a gift from another Saudi princess.

She is one of the spunkiest pop stars in Egypt, she is cute, she is fun and most importantly, she is all Egyptian. This is Mai Kassab's third album and she is loving it. She has turned to acting in the slow music season, but this is her comeback, the album is her first in more than four years.

The producer and the artist would like you to buy the original album from the music store, not some online copy. Because this is a touch time for them-if you do not buy them they won't make them anymore. A girlie album, a dance one and some drama for sure.

I find myself drawn to Mai years ago, she seems like that good girl who is not naive or dreamy, but rather real, like many ladies out there. I do not like the slow songs usually, but she seems to go to work for those songs as she records them. There too many pop female personalities in Egypt, to her fans and they are many, she is top three. I also like the song where she tells her man to get real and approach her family with a marriage proposal. In those times, this seems to be an old style, as more men boast about freedom as a cop out.

As for summer albums, this is a worthy album that both men and woman can enjoy, she is so cool and the album cover makes the summer heat go away. Mai does not have the best vocal set, but with what she has she has made the most of it and this is simply sufficient for so many of those looking for an entertaining album that also has a good cry. I really like how much the songs and Mai spend talking about relationships and love.

The number one dancing Lebanese pop star let is all be seen with her most recent music video filmed on the roof of some Beirut apartment. It feels like a nostalgic music video form the sixties where women and men had different concepts for fashion and styles.

To be fair, this is a wonderful song, and a good music video. Why did they have to make it like a meat market though is the question. She is shaking her money maker and has help this time, and makeover works well for her and the Lebanese melody is clear.

This plays like a theater group, the makeup, the color mixing, and style designers will be in this business for some time. The song is no doubt classy, and feels like a throwback to the beloved Lebanese oldies who love so much. This song has a lasting affects, and feels like something old yet so fresh.

The last outfit seems like a creep fest please note the perfume endorsement. It's clear that Myriam Fares is facing a lot of competition so she had to work harder and smarter to stick out, and she did. In the past she had to worry about four other pop divas, now she has like a dozen who do similar styles, among them some ladies who can really entertain.

Fresh off a 23 city International Tour, Chicago MC Khaled M (@thisisKhaledM) drops the visuals to "Cloud Conversations Pt 2" featuring American Idol 10 finalist Peter Frank. The song is the lead single of Khaled M's debut EP "Above the Clouds".

It seems like it has been a century since I saw Khaled M, when in fact I saw him in 2011 standing in a pro Libya protest in front of the White House. But that was 2011 and a lot has changed.

Khaled M, a rapper from Lexington, Kentucky, who was mainly performing at universities and the occasional charity event draws much of his inspiration for his music from his father, a Libyan poet. Although he started rap-battling in his school lunchroom and ghostwrote for other rappers for years, he, too, only started performing under his own name in the last two years. He calls his songs "reality music," rather than other terms he's heard, like "conscious" or "political."

As of the track, it's a delight to play over and over again. The flow is where it should be and the lyrics more personal than ever before. Lately, it  is seems like we do not hear many of its type as rap goes commercial, there are too many stories that no longer come out due to market calculations. He sounds a lot more experienced and mature without losing his upbeat spirit.

The track is for purchase on this link

Poor Fateh Song As They Celebrate Their Anniversery

Fateh once stood for something, but now it's hard to tell what this once larger than life Palestinain faction stands for. If you ask their leaders, they may not be able to come with an answer. Sadly  most of their leaders now, or the ones with leadership roles get the OK from Israel to move around  Those people used to hide and do things that mattered.

Now, they only sell and buy things, they have turned into business people instead of revolutionaries and thinkers. It feels like the want the Palestinians to become consumers and not citizens. I know many people who have died believing in Fateh and its mission, too bad those people are no longer with us. This party is at war with itself, they send mixed messages confusing not only their members  but also the world.

As Fateh figure out what drives them, here's a some that makes you feel sorry for them. Ahmed Dari, is the voice behind this song--he sounds like he was a son of the movement--the same one he decries now. They are in a deep well says the song, it's a party to feel sorry for.

Can Someone Please Help Diana Haddad Out!

$

I love to see some Diana Haddad, and I love to her her authentic voice doing the songs we love from her. She just had a streak of bad luck lately and she is far too talented to let her career tank. I know she is working on reviving her own career, she has gave us a good album more than a year ago. But it lacked the flavor. I am in love with her new single she released few months ago "Albi Wafi", or "My Heart Is Loyal", I thought seeing the old Diana Haddad back in action.

She has the loyal fan base, she is a huge draw in Dubai, and the Beirut. She is one of the few Arab entertainers who can call both those places home. She is a citizen in both of those countries and she has paid her dues. Furthermore, she  grew up in Kuwait, so she knows the lingo very well. Her album of 2011, tanked in terms of sales. Her business manager should not have a job in this business.

But, she needs to reflect on her career, she cannot just go back to her old ways, doing Khaliji songs that no one loves but most tolerate. She needs to reconnect with her her past and reconstruct her image. She has tried to venture into new territory like doing in Iraqi song last year in her album. Then she talked about doing a Moroccan track and a song for kids. But this sounds not like Diana Haddad, she is following other pop stars on a game she will lose.

Diana is doing too many things, I think the right thing for her to do is do an album with no song for the Gulf--just the same good old Egyptian and Lebanese songs. She is a star because of those songs, and she lead on those fronts. For the past five years, I have been watching Diana make one mistake after another, she needs to stop and call her old crew back. I am certain they love working with her.

She has not done any Bedouin style songs in five years, and no Egyptian songs for six years. She cannot do everything, she is talented but we only like one side of her and certainly not a mediocre children song. She needs a new music projects free of Gulf music, this album will sell and will bring sexy back

She does not need any household names and she should not talk about the project, make it a surprise for all of us. She is overexposed, there are many media outlets who love to talk to her. She should step back and record some new songs, and not talk about them, till she is reach out to them. Stick in Lebanon for a little bit, do not just travel there on business trip. Let the people inspire you let the dialect sink in. Trust me, the Gulf loves non Khaliji music, they will come around. She has already manged to get some of the wasted respect with her single "Albi Wafi"

Mohammed Assaf Libyan And Algerian Song On Arab Idol محمد عساف - نخي يام قصاص طويلة + وهران رحتي خسارة

He sang in Egyptian, Lebanese, Palestinian, Gulf dialects but not until this week has the Arab Idol contender has sang in A Libyan or Algerian dialect. The ever-charming, Palestinian wonder boy is sealing the title each time he performs. He is the golden boy and the judges and viewers seem to know he is the next title winner.

This way he has sang for pretty much every Arabic major dialect, and this is great news for him, I think more votes will be coming in from him from that part of Arabia, he was ready with a cover of a beloved and well known Algerian song, and he topped it with a little known Libyan song--it must be a big deal in Libya.

He came a long way from being a Gaza boy to showering the Arab World with songs that captures their attention. I do not think there is any one who follows the show that hate him. He has no haters it seems, and even people from places with Arab Idol participants can see him as the next big thing. Again, they may want their home singer to win, but they know that Assaf is their second choice, if not the first.

See him answer a fan question and smile his way as he performs some new songs to him that will advance his career.

Listen: Star Academy Sara Farah New Dance Single اغنيه سارة فرح - بعز الظهر

Some parts of Syria are on fire, and some Syrians are hotter than smoke. Sara Farah is one of those people who are too hot to handle. She was the runner up two years ago for the title of Star Academy, I thought she was great, and as a Syrian she had all those authentic elements that make Syrian talents stand tall as they perform any song they chose to bring to light.

Her comeback is with an original song that reminds her fans that she is not going anywhere, her talent is something or a fresh take on dance songs. In fairness, she sounds like another young Syrian pop songstresses who also won a similar show few years before Sara.

One note, this is the radio version as the rights free songs has yet to be released. The promo picture is a bit sizzling for this time of the year. Sara is doing something new, the way to stay in the radar is to do something people do not expect you to do....she is pulling a chapter from the famous movie Basic Instinct and the leg crossing sexy chair. I like the lyrics, they allow for Sara to show her strength, and they keep her busy in the summer music festival season. The music is upbeat as hell and it's a cool summer breeze that this young lady's career needs.

Two folksy Egyptian divas join forces to bring out this duet about seeing Egypt by the boat, streaming up/down the Nile in a boat to see the land--all the land. This is Amina, the one who made sha'abi songs hip again, brings an older diva Fatmah Eid and together they do this duet.

The song has a lot of shouting and the theme is less Egypt and more pirates of the Caribbean and sexy ladies of Treasure Island. This is a good attempt to make an action/adventure music video using the song as an excuse. I think the director forgot this is a music video about Egypt, he just wanted to burn some money and adding something cool to his resume.

The two ladies are the greatest friends and one can see Amina looks up to Ms. Eid, and Eid is not done yet, even though she has slowed down. I like the outfits and the dances, but the computer affects are sophomoric. This is the old look for Amina making a comeback after she went for the amazing plastic look in her previous music video.

Mohammad Assaf: The Gaza Rocket

His performance of Arabic classics is truly captivating, but the show’s producers know he is capable of so much more. In later episodes he gave them party songs in the Lebanese style and he literally brought down the house and sparked parties in Arab homes and Palestinian streets. He has a loud  multi-octave voice when he needs, and the soft and touching voice when he is doing a romantic songs. He seems to have perfect combination that makes a star stand out in a crowded music industry and sluggish music market. Then he was asked to do a fun dance Palestinian song. As He sported the traditional Palestinian scarf and sang, the audience in the studio went bonkers--dancing and clapping as he charmed his way into their hearts. The judges would even dance and sing during his performances. Each time he delivers a song, he unleashed a love fest from the audience and the judges who shower him with praises. One particular judge feels like a father to him and has taken key interest in Assaf. I am referring to Lebanese super star Ragheb Alamah who was his earliest and remains his biggest fan.

Each time Assaf performs, a judge tells him he should be the Arab Idol. In his last performance he did a cover of one Saudi song beloved in the Gulf region and he had that region head over heels. He got into the song and made it his. This was great because it opened the floodgates from the affluent voters from the part of the world.  In this way he has locked in three important corners of the Arab world:  he sang songs from Beirut, did covers from one Egyptian legend and now did the same thing with a Saudi classic.

the song you will see is a cover of a 26 years olf song for Ragheb Alamah, who loved the cover so much that he has granted Assaf the rights to record this song in his voice.

He is a cool pop singer for starter.

But he also sang for the abusing King of Bahrain, he has turned his career into selling coke by doing  ads for them. I do not blame him, he has a family to feed now. But all of that does not change the fact of how much we love Hamaki, the fresh prince of Egyptian pop/electronic.

He talked so much about his new music video where he promised to act for the first time, not just sing along. He films and shots his music videos in London now, and he is back with the dapper look all suites means business. I like the beat, but note how Coca Cola gets the bulk of the music video. He is going Mad Men on us. This was his hit song and he hired the right model for the song driving around and schmoozing in bars and lounges.

He tries to portray a love story. That means he might turn to TV and movies. I give him that, the beat for this song is a club and dance materiel. Acting is not staring into the camera, it's so much more. Enjoy the hippie party segment.

Israeli Occupation Question Palestinian Songstress Reem Banna

$

She went to Syria on a trip with a group that was delivering humanitarian aid to Syria. They charged her with visiting an enemy state and and asked her not to travel there again. A number of media outlets have reported on this questioning. Keep on mind, Reem Banna has so many friends around the world, she is an ambassador to the world form Palestine. She is not a secret figure. The local Shabak office sent her a note (see photograph) and summoned her for questioning.

Reem Banna is a well-known Palestinian singer, composer, arranger and activist, who is most known for her modern interpretations of traditional Palestinian songs and poetry. Is native in Nazareth, where she graduated from Nazareth Baptist School. She currently lives in Nazareth with her three children.

Reem has posted more details on her meeting with the Shabak office on her Facebook page. Among the charges being a member of a terrorist group--something she denies. It's funny when the terrorists ask you if you belong to a rivaling terrorist group. She is an entertainer who sang about, love, peace, the country, and her mother. She has also dozens of songs about romance, I guess something occupation forces are unable to process.

She stood her ground, hear her speak about her questioning with the Israeli occupation forces, and I like what she has to say. I am not sure what was the purpose of the trip, but I know people from all over the world travel to Syria to transport aid and support to the people there. She has a concert in Amman this summer and she will be there

Everything You Need To Know About Arab Idol Mohammad Assaf @HotArabicMusic

The panelists loved his personal story and his struggle to come to Egypt for the audition. He discussed his issues at the border crossing. Generally younger people are given a hard time at the border for security concerns. Mohammad had to sleep on the street for a night when he was held up before finding his way in. Another local Gazan who was carrying his credentials to audition gave up his pass to Assaf, who was then permitted to audition. His story has gone viral in the Middle East and beyond. I wrote about Assaf on my Arabic music blog, and traffic for his posts have been through the roof. Every Friday night, millions of people throughout the Arab world tune in to watch the hit show and root for their favorite voice. There are scores of talented voices competing on the program. There was a young Kurdish woman who cannot speak Arabic, but has earned millions of fans for her voice and beauty. But Assaf's supporters defy borders. He has fans in each Arab country and beyond. He came from an unlikely place and has performed some of the most intricate Arabic songs so that even the older music listeners are paying attention.

Do You Miss Hani Al Omari? If Not You Should

$

When he was asked about singers he is not fond of, Hani El Omary has this to say, some artists should set and home and not sing; others should keep working and never set at home. If you are twenty five or older, you will be among the lucky ones who know his songs. Hani was influenced by the songs of the likes of Wadie Safie. Hani has reserved a spot fr himself in the sentimental song perfected by the combination of his sensitive and sincere personality.

This is how I feel about the once larger than life voice of Hani Al Omari, the Lebanese romance hit-maker and classic icon. While he is no legend, he is popular for concerts in Lebanon. He has recorded many albums, but one of them stood the test of time, the emotions are all too real and Hani knows how to make us want more. To my, he has always this sweet and gentle spirit who celebrates the innocence of love. He is not associated with flirty songs. Though he has ventured into the commercialized dance songs (see below).

Hani is one of those artists whose name is too big, and he does not need a music video--he complains they are too expensive to make. We are all nostalgic to the songs he used to make, so warm, so true to life. He continues to make songs, but none match his debut album. He appears on various media outlets and he seems to have kept his talent. He has his fans out there and he has no trouble getting booked on a number of TV and radio shows.

His simple and dazzling Lebanese songs have stuck around. I like his take on the nature of the business, people talk about me now for free because I have done something. The other guys bribe someone to write something up about them--my work speaks for itself says Hani and I think he is right. He also salutes the icons of country like Melhim Barakat and Essam Rajji. He is also a friend with Wael Jassar.

Aside from the singing, Hani has at least on restaurant in Beirut an dhe is always on the look out for new songs, from anybody. He admits to being a control freak when it comes to directing his music videos.

Every singer is searching for a hit song to release in the summer where concerts are everywhere one looks. It seems one young and gifted singer just did this. Majd Mousalli is singing a song created by the Lebanese composer and romance lyricist Salim Assaf.

This is a sour romantic song where rage, love, frustration and pain come together. A broken heart is revealed in Majd voices, this is like acting with one's voice should look like. This is a young Lebanese artist who is fun to hear sing live. He delivers all the punches, he hits the high octave notes, and take us to the low ones and bring us back up.

He's got the blues now, but in his other songs he was here to party with you.

Ramadan is making is hard for artists to release summer albums, this year it's coming in July, next year it will be in June. Ramy Sabry is about to release his latest album, for a guy who does not make many albums, he makes good ones.

I like Ramy, but I am hoping his new album will deliver the good fun romance and dance tracks. He is a guy who know where and how to make a good beat, if he could not find it out there, he makes his own. Check out the promo track for his soon to be released album.

He has been blessed with a good voice, at times, he feels like a young Amer Diab, a very similar style and performance indeed. Other stars may try to mimic the Egyptian legend, I feel Ramy Sabry is a legend in progress.

Legend Abdel Halim Hafiz Work His Crowd

The first Egyptian crowd pleaser in my book would always be Abdel Halim Hafiz. Not only was he a great singer and a pioneer for that era, he understood something his contemporaries overlooked. See, most legends of that era, they had prestige. That means they would not engage the audience, they would applaud them and the star would bow to them--just about it.

Comes Abdel Halim, he actually talked to the fans, engaged them, asked them to put their hands together for his band for for the great moment. His stature allowed him to do more than that. He was singing to his peers not subordinates  I love that about him now, but at his time, many dismissed him for how he interacts with his fans.

Needless to say, now all those singers want to be your buddies, they like what you like. Few people understood that at the time--even in the States. Hafiz would take requests from his in house fans. And they those fans get test, he can be testy back like he did when he lost his cool at someone who was making a ruckus.

He would also interact with his band--he is one of the few artists at the time to be allowed to conduct his own band and that's out of pure respect for his knowledge. Hafiz understood without the fans, he has nothing and without a loving band, he would give his fans next to nothing. See what I mean in the concert for one of his saddest songs.
